Dehydrobrachylaenolide: an eudesmane-type sesquiterpene lactone

The three-ring eudesmanolide, C(15)H(16)O(3), is a natural product isolated from Dicoma anomala Sond. (Asteraceae). The compound contains an endo-exo cross conjugated methyl-enecyclo-hexenone ring with an envelope conformation trans-fused with cyclo-hexane and trans-annelated with an α-methyl-ene γ-lactone. The absolute structure was assigned by optical rotation measurements compared to those f...

Two new guaiane-type sesquiterpene glycosides from the fruits of Daucus carota L.

Two new guaiane-type sesquiterpene glycosides, 11-O-acetyl-torilolone 8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1) and 1beta-hydroxytorilolone 11-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), were isolated from the fruits of Daucus carota L. Their chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of MS, NMR spectroscopic analyses coupled with chemical degradation.

A New Eudesmane Sesquiterpene from Nigrospora oryzae, an Endophytic Fungus of Aquilaria sinensis

A new eudesmane-type sesquiterpene, 11-hydroxycapitulatin B (1), along with a known related sesquiterpene, capitulatin B (2), was isolated from the endophytic fungus Nigrospora oryzae A8 from Aquilaria sinensis, the only plant resource for agarwood production in China. This research demonstrates that the endophytic fungi from A. sinensis might play a role in the formation of agarwood.
